Write for The Toucan Cove
We're always looking for experienced writers to help build out our site and provide content for the larger TCG, figure collecting, and anime communities. If you're interested in writing for us, please read the requirements on this page and submit your request below.
Please keep in mind that not all articles can be accepted. We'll do our best to reach out to you within 5 business days on whether or not we would like to continue with your pitch, but if you do not hear back from us, send a follow-up email. If you still don't hear from us, feel free to submit a different offer at a later date.
General Requirements
To be eligible for submitting an article, you must meet the below requirements. This is to ensure we retain a high-level of quality on all our published material and ensure The Toucan Cove is a trusted source of information and opinions.
- You must have at least 3 existing publications posted online that are not on your own blog or website. This is required to understand your writing style and determine if your content is a match for The Toucan Cove.
- You must have some social media presence with at least 100 followers and be able to share a potentially published article of yours.
- You must be 18 years or older. For security and legal purposes, we may ask to verify your age.
- You must be able to write at an advanced or fluent English level.

Content
We're looking for:
- Pokémon content, including opinions or analysis on trends in the TCG community, buying or collecting guides, full reviews of games, or other long-form content
- Anime series reviews, visual novel reviews, or Japanese game/gacha reviews (strong preference for tie-ins to products offered on The Toucan Cove)
- Full scope figure or mini-figure set reviews or purchase guides
- Other creative ideas for articles or opinion pieces related to Pokémon, TCG, anime, or figure collecting
- Articles ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 words
We're not currently looking for:
- Lists (e.g., "Top 10 XYZ" figures)
- Short-form content (<1,000 words)
- Episode or single mini-figure reviews
- News or patch notes summaries
- Most types of competitive TCG content
When writing an article for The Toucan Cove, please make sure to adhere to some common guidelines. Source and include links where necessary. Plagiarism of any type is not allowed, and this includes AI or AI-assisted writing of any type. Additionally, all images submitted alongside your article must be either your own or general enough to not violate copyright laws. For example, a screenshot of an anime scene or a picture of a Pokémon card taken from TCGplayer are both acceptable. You may not use screenshots that include fansubs or allude to them in any way.
Any author that violates these guidelines will not be eligible for payment and their article will not be published on the site.
Payment
For all articles submitted to The Toucan Cove, we will pay $0.05 per word. We strongly prefer articles in the 1,000 to 2,000 word range, though exceptions might be made for particularly compelling prompts. Payment will be made through PayPal Goods & Services only after submission of a final draft. For questions regarding payment and pricing, please send us an email with your query.
